I use to be a delivery driver also. A lot of people do think the drivers get the fee. You have good nights and bad nights delivering. You can always kindly explain that the restaurant gets the fee you do not and you don't even make min wage.
Like mail or food?
a tip is not always needed or deserved. you make a hourly wage, above the $2.50 that a waitress gets? How about you be glad and appreciative if / when you get a tip and not expect one. If you were hired as a delivery person, that's your job. Does the guy in a warehouse who loads an appliance onto a truck get a tip, no. did the pizza cook get a tip for making the pie, no. Stop feeling entitled
Depending on the company, part of the delivery charge is for the driver, the other part to the company. If your delivering, and paying expenses, then why would the delivery change not go to you? I dislike companies that do this when they know it hurts the drivers. It's not about the customer being "cheap", it's about not paying two separate delivery fees. Anyways, I still tip, but if a delivery change was required, I tip a lesser amount.
I live in the U.K where I think tipping system is different. In the US is paying electronically meaning less tips? It's ridiculous tips are part of living wage rather than extra! Will have to remember to start tipping delivery people especially if abroad.
Delivery drivers at the restaurant I work at make damn near as much as the manager. They get gas and mileage comped, a dollar per delivery (a portion of the delivery charge) minimum wage whenever clocked in and they do the least amount of work in the entire restaurant. Unless that shit is 2x as fast as quoted they don’t deserve a tip

A tip is a tip. Ur still getting your hourly paycheck right? I used to be a delivery driver and never expected a tip so I was always happy whenever I got one no matter how small
Being European, I despise the American tipping system and I think the minimum wage should apply for everybody. A tip should be an extra bonus for outstanding service, not something that is expected. I personally would never think about tipping a delivery driver here at home, and certainly not if he's delivering goods rather than food. However, it is what it is. You live and work in the USA, so it should be common sense that you tip over there to let the delivery guy have a decent income. FYL OP.
