Today, I contacted my biological father, after not speaking to him for some years, as we had a very strained relationship. I received an automated response. It's probably the best conversation we have ever had. FML

Today, I got a missed call from my dad, who hasn't talked to me in months and has vowed not to have anything to do with me. I called him back excitedly and apologized for missing his call, and we had a 20-second conversation about how his phone accidentally dialed my number. FML

Today, I met my biological father for the first time. He seemed to be slightly intoxicated from the outset, and less than half an hour later, he had tried to intimidate me into "loaning" him several hundred euros for reasons he wouldn't tell me. So long, "dad". FML

Today, I asked my mom to tell me how she met my dad, because after 15 years me and my dad are finally working on our relationship. My mom thought it was a good time to tell me he’s not my father, and that my biological father wants to meet me this week. FML

Maybe it wasn't meant to be, OP. If you've lived that many years not speaking to him, what's the harm of leaving him be? Live life and enjoy not having the strain of a bad relationship in your life. And maybe one day you will re-kindle the relationship you once had with your father.

I hav the same relationship with my father, only as soon as I was about to call him to tell him he can have a second chance, my mom told me he died last night. now I will never get the chance to have a good relationship with him, and I'm only 14. maybe you should try to be friends with him :'(

My parents split up when I was 8 and through the years we had a strained relationship. Till 3 weeks before he died, we made up for lost times, right after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Put things right, right now, before you end up regretting it through your life.
