Today, I decided I didn't care about my pride, and so I asked this girl out in a text. After an hour of no response I asked again. Later I got a text saying, "I'm sorry, This is Emily's mom. Emily isn't here at the moment, but if I were you, I wouldn't ask again." I was rejected by her mom. FML

Oh damn. are you sure that was even her? or just pretending!

Your first mistake was asking a girl out by text message. Seriously, grow a pair and ask her out face-to-face.

Maybe her mom was giving you some decent advice: when you send someone a message, have a little patience. Sending a few in short succession can be interpreted as pressuring someone. And I agree with the above, if you really like this girl, ask her in person.

1) there are so many of these similar post already, I dont see why FML keeps approving the same things over and over again. 2) You shouldn't have asked by text anyways. Its not her fault you dont have the balls to do it in person. 3) Any mother (or at least alot of them) would probably respond that way. 4) Get over it because you'll have far more rejections in your lifetime.

Maybe the mom was just telling you to stop seeming so pathetically desperate. Geez, you could have given the girl a chance to reply. Bad enough to show so little taste asking via text, then you badger her before she has a chance to get it?

She coulda just been giving you advice. If you're gonna ask a girl out via txt at least only send ONE. 2-3 makes you look even worse.

your a stronger man than me. i wouldn't have asked her out. i would have just pined over her for years.

Asking a girl out by text is nearly as bad as making a friend ask for you. Get some balls and do it properly.

I agree with #3, in person is always best. definitely lowers the risk of getting rejected by her mom

That definitely wasn't her mom.
