Today, I decided to delete my Facebook account. My older sister repeatedly called me in tears asking why I'm cutting her out of my life. It seems I can't get rid of social media without my family taking offence. FML

Haha that same shit happened to me. I got a call from my mom, sister, and best friend asking why I removed them as friends on Facebook. Then when I said I deleted it they were baffled. Damn social media.

Just tell them to take a chill pill and that you love them, just not Facebook.

I deleted mine in April and people still won't talk to me because they think I deleted/ blocked them.

Lol i recently deleted my facebook too. I was tired of all the game requests, stupid dramatic facebook girls, all those copy and paste things, those like or die pictures, and worst of all, whenever I post something having my mom taking offense to it somehow.

Even though I deleted mine a year ago, you can select which people on your friends list can see what.

They need to do a suicide intervention for you. These days, your Facebook is your existence, so deleting it is just one step before doing yourself in.

Perdix, can it be any suicide hotline or only a special one dubbed for people like me, who deleted their Facebook a year ago? Help!

I haven't deactivated mine yet due to fear of similar repercussions. Getting harassed by people who have become overly dependent on social media almost makes it not worth it, but do stick to your guns, keep your account closed, and help them adjust to staying in touch with you differently in a slow and patient manner (as is best in the case of breaking any "dependence").

Remember not to check Facebook for the next 2 weeks (I think it's 2 weeks, but could be wrong). Your account will be re-activated if you visit Facebook in that time frame.

My sister did something similar. Called me up and gave me shit for deleting my niece and nephew. Don't think she realizes that I won't show up on anyone's FB anymore after deactivating it. Nice and peaceful without it :)

I never wanted a Facebook to begin with, but my mother talked me into at least letting her use my account so she could have more people to send shit to over Mafia Wars. When all was said and done and I was now a part of the system, she patted me on the head and told me I'd "made a lot of people very happy." Like I'd just agreed to have my kidneys donated or something. Just...ugh.

When I deleted my Facebook, my mom grounded me because she thought I blocked her. Now I just don't use my Facebook.

I'm sorry, but I'd have told her to turn off the computer and get a life.
