Tadpolecrusader tells us more.
I love reading your comments, they are amazing :D I thought it only happened in comics that sort of thing too. But the sheer force of this wave actually made me nearly fall over (the road drainage pipe was blocked I can only assume). And living in Australia means that we are not used to much rain. But I sure was wishing I had taken more notice. That being said, I can also add that the idea of bring extra clothes to work because of rain is a fairly foreign idea to us. Usually its just a light sprinkle throughout the day if at all, so often people don't even worry about an umbrella, unless we know its going to get heavy. As for work, I don't think my manager cared too much, she just found me a towel and let me do what I needed to. And I have no idea if the truck driver did it on purpose or even noticed. But judging the position of everything, I would say it was unavoidable for him. And he was coming up behind me, so I don't see him coming to avoid it. 10/10 will be more careful in the future :)

Mental note: don't ever come near a puddle when there're cars or trucks, ever.

I'm from Perth. For the past few days its been raining, but generally we get hardly any.
Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
Show it anywayI don't know about where you live, but here in Sydney it's raining literally 75% of the year.
No rain? I'm from Melbourne. The no rain in Australia thing really isn't accurate.
you guys are confusing me, does it rain there or not? maybe just in op's location? clouds dont always have to cover an entire continent. isnt Australia known for dry weather also?
Australia has many different regions- some very dry, some very wet. Clearly OP lives in a drier region, probably a decent distance from the coast.
Yah I was confused by that too because when I was down visits my dad it rained for a week during my last week there and then it continued to rain for another 2 months and they had a flood.
Op is in Perth. It's dry in Western Australia. There are more people who live in the eastern part of Australia and it tends to be wetter in the east than the west.
31 op means a semi. In aus we don't use the word pick up truck. We call them Utes, short for utility vehicle.
Now everyone knows where you live, genius.
Quite a few bridges and causeways got flooded out this month and last month due to heavy rains... Maybe OP is in Western Australia in the desert areas and doesn't get as much rain there? IDK. I've never been to WA.
that driver did it on purpose.
If I'm walking in the rain with an umbrella, I can almost guarantee that some nobhead will think it's the funniest idea in the world to drive into a puddle to splash me. I find that I can avoid most (if not all) of the splash if I crouch as low as I can and use the umbrella as a shield.
Driving through puddles and causing pedestrians to become soaked is actually illegal in some countries, Japan comes to mind, because of problems like this. Of course, enforcing the law is another issue... I'm sorry that happened and I hope your work day wasn't too difficult despite it.
He must of had a sexy truck.
Jeez. Those are the worst moments :(
Wouldnt you have chamged out your wet underwear?
‘Are your panties wet from getting drenched by a passing truck on a rainy day on your way to work after buying an umbrella, or are you just glad to see me?’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it as ‘Is that a banana in your pocket?’
