Hello - OP here. I was helping at an event when this happened. First of all, I'd like to say that there was no way the kid just wandered off. His dad was in a parking lot looking for his stuff in his car at least 200 meters away. He just had his head up his ass. Second of all, I know it was wrong to not call the police or at least get some adult involved, but I'm only 14, and so I guess I wasn't jaded enough yet to realize any predator in the vicinity might see that as the perfect opportunity. For what it's worth, though, I saw a very close resemblance between the two, so at least that's something.

I feel sorry for the kid. This situation sure wasn't good parenting...
I've had a similar experience. I found a little boy alone and crying at a theme park. His parents where nowhere to be found so I helped him look around. His mom soon came up from behind me and bitched me out for trying to "kidnap" her child. Sometimes, people suck.
I hate parents now days.
Is your name Jared by any chance? Because that would explain a lot.
You did good, never forget that and keep on the good work :-)
Next time call police when you find a child
Exactly. I know OP meant well, but you can't just take a child around a park, asking who his parents are. That's an open invite for predators. "Oh a lost kid, no parents in sight. Cool." Definitely should've called the cops. It may be scary for the child, but it would've been the safest route.
Depending on how old the child was, isn't that going overboard? Children as young as two or three are perfectly capable of pointing out their parents.
You should have reported him
You should have yelled loudly "glad to help you find your lost son"

You'd think he'd be grateful you weren't some weirdo or something... You did the right thing, OP.
He should have been grateful!! Good job at being a good Samaritan OP!
