I have to work xmas day too. But I only live a 40minute walk away so i dont have to spend £39485439995845y54rf434 :P If it's really that far away (and no, a half hour - an hours walk is not too far) then you should have spoken to your boss IN ADVANCE. It's not hard.
1 hr walk + 8 hr shift + 1 hr walk. Who wants to do that after a long day of work, especially if the job is labor intensive?
used to work at fedex, there would be noooo way i would walk to and from work, ever, period, i wouldn't even get home i'd have to sit down and nap.
I do quite often. One of my parents live about one and a half hours away, maybe a bit less. the bus only goes 20 minutes towards their house and then i have to walk. i'm a waiteress, so obv im on my feet literally all day, running around etc etc. I do try to avoid not staying at my house though :P An hours walk is not bad.
I work a 25 hour day , i live in a cardboard box, and i walk 12 hours a day, 8 days a week, to get to my job in constant -50 degree weather. Also, i get hideous burns and cuts from the constant clawing the dragons i tend to deliver. But i don't bitch. Monty python, anyone? See what i did thar?
It's a ******* crime to work on Christmas :(
No, a "******* crime" is called "rape". Also, FY Christocentrism.
tell your boss you're not working it unless you get a lift or some money back towards a taxi. i work in a bar too and our boss is driving us home over christmas and boxing day shifts.
why does it feel like deja vu while reading this?
There was a fml last week just like it.
wow and I didnt write my comment sarcastically based on that? good job!
that really does suck. sorry to hear.
yea, it sux ass working the holidays. I'm doing it too. I am a car rental agent at an airport. i know it's not realistic but I think ppl should be off all major holidays. I know I should be working at a post office. lol. or for the gov't.
use the "its against my religion" excuse. they cant legally fire you because your religion.
I'd give you a ride if you lived in Southern California :)
