Today, I left on a 2 month trip. I was in a hurry to pack so I wouldn't miss my plane. There were 2 piles of clothes on my bed. One pile was clothes that didn't fit to take to a thrift store, one was to take with me. Guess which one I brought? FML

how can your just throw things in a bag for TWO MONTHS?

Not sure how u could do that. I always make a list and double check that I have everything when I pack. Obviously not everyone makes a list but you'd think you would at least look at what u put in your suitcase...

Who else is sick of stupid rhetorical questions in these stories? On a side note, you COMPLETELY deserved it. On the other hand, what an occasion to buy new clothes while you're on vacation =)

I don't think there is anything wrong with this kind of rhetorical questions. What is wrong, I hate to point this out though, is OP's poor syntax of English. Apparently, "clothes that didn't fit to take to thrift store" does not mean the same thing as "clothes that didn't fit [me] and that were about to BE TAKEN to thrift store." Hmmmmm :D I first thought that pile of clothes were rejected by thrift store.......yikes!

Actually, #36, I think it's you're looking at it wrong. It would be bad if the OP had typed "one pile of clothes that /weren't/ fit to take to a thrift store," but "one pile of clothes to take to a thrift store" is perfectly acceptable. The point is to keep these FMLs short and sweet anyhow, so whatever. What the OP typed is less confusing that what you did. C:

O grammar grammar......what a headache! I agree with you, #42, that my example is a little confusing, not to mention redundant. The point of the example, however, is to point out the awkwardness of OP's phrase "didn't fit to" in the sentence, as the infinitive marker "to" suggests a consequence and a shared subject (clothes). The phrase "one pile of clothes to take to thrift store" is perfectly acceptable because it is a shortened version of "one pile of clothes [for someone] to take to thrift store." The phrase "didn't fit to" is an attempt of multitasking that ends up a little confusing. But whatever, who cares about grammar/syntax nowadays? ^_^

I don't hate the rhetorical questions, I just hate people's smart-ass answers to them.

sillypuppy- stfu. nobody ******* cares.

FYL... because I know I could make the same mistake, and don't act like one of those people who comment on here acting like they're perfect. You know you could all make the same mistake

I went on vacation once... and forgot my bag! Granted I was like 8 years old and thought my parents put my bag in the car - still sucked!

Shopping anyone? Lots and lots of shoping:/

YDI COMPLETELY! Everyone knows to pack in advance, like start packing 2 weeks before, so you don't forget anything and you have to time to pack something you just remember.. Especially if it's 2 months.. I'm leaving at the end of July but I'm already thinking what to bring, since I'm leaving for 2 months too. You're a complete ******* idiot.. o.O

all these douchebags above need to chill... although it was irresponsible to not pack a few days in advance, maybe she had a reason? fyl, maybe get someone to mail you your stuff?
