Today, I started to fill out a job application online, with age being one of the first things I put in. After half an hour and 40 questions, I hit submit. I was then told that I wasn't old enough to apply. FML

Technology saves time, they said...it makes life easier, they said...

Ah. I once did four hours of applications, three phone interviews, and finally got to an orientation/final interview.... and they said I was too young to work there. My age was all over the paperwork, so it was just plain failure on the company's part.

You live on Mercer Island? In Washington state?

I too am confused about this one, I would have thought most jobs with age restrictions would be obvious by the nature of the job. obviously the 14-16 age range could be a little trickier, but if you are at that age, consider this a life lesson, do some basic background research on anywhere before applying for a job. If you get offered an interview, it will look good as you will have done some research on the company and may have a couple of questions specific to the Company to ask in the interview. It is also good to do this research for any warning signs. If there seems to have been a large amount of staff turnover/they are recruiting for lots of positions, then ask yourself (and if you are being interviewed, ask them) why - sometimes they have a legitimate reason (recent expansion, recent structure/organisational changes, something as simple as moving offices will sometimes cause long term staff members to decide to leave, as they see the change as a good chance to make some changes in their own life that they may have been thinking about for a while).
