Today, I was in a terrific mood after finding a bouquet of beautiful flowers on my doorstep when I came home. That is, until I recognised the handwriting of my "secret admirer" was the same as my mother's. FML

Today, I got flowers sent to my work, I happily opened them in front of my co-workers thinking they were from my crush, I open the card to see "Love you, from mom". My mother thinks my love life is so pathetic, thats she needs to send me flowers to cheer me up. FML

Today, after spending $120 to have a bouquet of flowers delivered to my mom, she called to complain that I had forgotten about her for Mother's day, but also praise my sister for apparently receiving my flowers I sent at the door and passing them off as hers. FML

Today, I got flowers from a secret admirer. Turns out they were from my sister's in-laws who own a flower shop. Apparently, everyone feels bad that I'm single and they are convinced I'm gonna die alone. FML

Today, I sent a $120 bouquet of flowers for mother's day. When I called tonight see if my Mom got them, she replied that they were still on the doorstep because she "didn't want the dogs to get excited and start barking" when she opened the front door to bring them in. FML

Hey, your mother cared enough to feel you could use a pick-me-up and to give you flowers -- sounds pretty good to me! You can still enjoy the bouquet, and as an added benefit, you don't have to worry that they might be from a creepy stalker. 8)

It seems like you're making a couple of assumptions that many other commenters have not -- first, that the original poster is male (maybe yes, maybe no), and second, that the mother had some sort of sexual designs here (I certainly hope not). My impression was that this was a mother trying, somewhat misguidedly, to cheer up her (maybe grown, maybe not) kid. For a mother to admire her kid and want to boost the kid's mood and/or self esteem does not mean the mother wants to do anything beyond that.

Your mom should have signed it. "Secret admirer" and flowers indicate a love interest. For a small, glorious period of time, there must have seemed to be a chance at a romance. I don't blame you for being disappointed.
