Today, like most weekends, I got swindled into being the designated driver for our group. Too bad this weekend was my birthday. FML

Lol! OP here, can't believe this got posted. I've always been the mother hen of my friends, and I really don't mind taking care of them. I'm not a big drinker anyways. But, all my friends had fun and my bf who hasn't been drunk in FOREVER had a great time, so that made it all worth it. Watching drunk people is pretty fun sometimes. :)

"Swindled"? I can only imagined what happened. OP's friend: "Adesignateddriversayswhat?" OP: "What? ****—not again! Come on, guys, it's my birthday!"

That's ****** up it's YOUR birthday. I hope you fought it at least. Should have partied the way you wanted and got an Uber or something. **** those people who wanted you to be DD

I'd say you're better off not ruining your liver and impairing your judgement. All just to get into a ridiculous state where your friends take photos that they won't ever delete.

But it was YOUR birthday. You should have spent the night the way that YOU wanted. :(

You gotta stand up for yourself OP. Start off the night doing a birthday shot, and say "I guess I'm not the DD," something. Someone would then step up, or the car gets left and you all take a cab/Uber. They owe you a night out.

You have a pretty good attitude, OP! And I agree, watching drunk people can be more fun than getting drunk. Remember, next time... take videos! :D

Maybe they wanted to spend their birthday not drunk off their bum and not drinking at all? Not everyone likes to drink and that's okay. And it's obvious that OP didn't mind being DD and still had a good time so it's not really an issue of OP being able to stand up for themselves.

If you don't mind being treated this way, why is this an FML? Learn to stand up for yourself!

Speak your mind, but please try and be respectful.

You keep on showing up and that is the problem.

The way I see it just agree to drive them next time and don't show up. I'm sure they'll think twice before asking you to drive them again ?
