Today, my dog vomited a writhing mass of maggots. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled, and I was baffled as to where she found a maggot infested dead thing to eat. Baffled, until my mom reminded me that my cat has been missing, presumed dead, for over a week. FML

Today, I was cleaning my room when I found a nice surprise from my cat. While I was on vacation, she killed a mouse. By the time I found it, there were maggots crawling in my carpet. FML

Today, I was woken up by a funky smell. My dog had eaten a dead bird and thrown up all over my bed and floor. At 4 o'clock in the morning I had to clean up regurgitated bits of bird, feathers, blood and dog food. The smell still hasn't gone away. FML

Today, at my minimum wage job, we received a half-way decomposed dog found in a lake. It was my job to tear open the bag and try to identify the breed and color. It would've been easier if the body wasn't crawling with maggots. FML

Today, I came home to find that maggots had taken over my garbage can this weekend. We weren't home to catch it, and I didn't use the garbage this morning. On top of that, I hadn't had my caffeine for the day because I ran out and forgot. FML

I really hope your cat is just on an adventure somewhere in the area. My cats have gone missing for great lengths of time on a few occasions. (They're spayed, so it wasn't that.) I'd chat up the neighbors and ask them to check their sheds, garages, porches, etc. Call around at night when noises are easily heard and cats are most often awake. Some cats simply love to explore and disappear for a while. Others have been known to pick multiple residences to live at. My oldest cat treats the neighbors like McDonald's and goes out to eat at their place! You just never know, but I'm hoping things turn out for the better for you and your cat.

Not every dog does disgusting things, mine is ridiculously iffy, won't touch anything "dirty" or break or ruin stuff. Every dog is different, & every breed has different characteristics.
