Today, my friend and I were seeing a movie. We ended up sitting next to a man who was continually laughing, clapping, and bouncing up and down on his seat. Extremely annoyed, we turned to him and told him to "shut the fuck up". Turns out he had downs syndrome and ran out of the theater crying. FML

Why would your first course of action be to tell someone to "shut the **** up"? I agree with #3.

To the people saying "I hope your children have DS" or "I hope you get brain trauma" ... what? Seriously, WHAT? Why would you ever wish that on someone? You rant and rave about how horrible the OP is and then turn around and say that? Your hypocricy is showing. Anyway OP, FYL. You could have stood to be more polite, but it's unlikely you could have been able to tell. Equal rights and all is nice but that means he has to sit down and shut up in a movie too. And since he wasn't able to manage that on his own, someone clearly needs to accompany him in the future.

Firstly - If I ever saw someone doing that the first thing I would think of is that he/she had DS. I can't believe that didn't occur to you. Silly. You could have handled it better than that...

I think that the simple solution here would have been for the OP to have been polite in the first place. Then the kid would have been quiet, the OP wouldn't be a douche and everyone could have enjoyed their movie, as they are all entitled to do. OP, regardless of your stance on political correctness, YDI for having no manners. Problem solved.

Hey, downs syndrome or not - you shut the **** up in the movies or stay home. IF he cant handle himself in a pubvlic situation properly, he needs to go back to those services that teach you to live a lifeon your own

You bastards. You could ask NICELY first...or do you get joy out of being a totally douche? Also, it'd be kinda hard to not realize somebody that has downsyndrome, it's very noticeable, unless your being an ignorant ****** like you were.

You should have asked nicely for him to be quiet, but it is easier and funnier to yell 'STFU'.

I'm so sick of everyone catering to the ones that can't even take care of themselves. You know why evolution works? Because we let those people DIE. If you can't even have quality of life due to your inability to understand, you should not have to suffer through it in a world where you have NO meaning and are a WASTE of resources.

I don't see the big deal...its something you do to anyone else. Yeah its rude to a normal person, but whats the difference between that and a person with downs syndrome? Why should they get special treatment. Whoever brought the person should have either took him out or quieted the person down. There are other people in that theatre
