She's probably looking for some fun, and not a one-sided affair. Let her win a couple of times.
Gee OP, you sound like Monica Geller from friends. Chances are your mom is not as fit as you and she was just looking for some fun. Why does this need to be a competition?
Your mom is just shy to say that you're so good at it. Just let her win
It looks to me that your mother is more of a sore loser...
There could be more to this story that we don't know about.
My family is uber non competitive. My sis and I play cooperative badminton. We try to see how long we can keep it going before someone drops it and save the spikes and things for playing in the amateur tournaments.
I don't really know anything about badminton but "smashing" sounds like something that would be aggressive. XD
Keep in mind that just because you think that "playing by the rules" isn't agressive doen't mean that she should too. Plenty of people who play sports by the rules can still be an agressive player. She may just want someone to play with instead of compete against, ever think of that?
Bravo to you on your killer instinct there op. Way to trounce your mom. Yey!

Aggressive and badminton... Two words I never thought I would see put together.
Competitive family?
