Today, my mom was freaking out about me handling a CD-ROM with my bare hands. When I asked her what all the commotion was about, she said she was worried that I would catch "one of those computer viruses" she'd heard about on the news. FML

aliezzedine tells us more.

Okay people I've sat around watching the comments ensue for a long ass time, and it's now my turn to clarify some shit: 1-My mom is not dumb, she has an average intelligence. 2-She has not handled any piece of the modern technology we all know so well in her life except the phone maybe. 3-She is actually blonde lol! 4-For those who said I made your day, it's a pleasure mates! 5-Those who are being disrespectful to my mother, who is actually the sweetest thing ever, go get a life people it was an honest mistake. It was stupid misconception I gotta admit! But trust me, she got plenty of brains to go around the table. 4-Some people are giving some really hilarious suggestions, you my friends are awesome! Cheers (Yes I'm the author of the post for all of you with the low IQs)

I think it's time to sit down and have the talk with your mother.

I heard those Trojan viruses are pretty nasty and hard to get rid of.

Well you COULD use latex gloves. Either that or get some kinda makeup and stuff, put it all over you arms and claim you actually got the virus!

This is excellent! Will defiantly add this one to favorites!

Maybe he will "defiantly" add it to his favorites. Trying to be a rebel.

I never understood why it is so hard for so many people on this site to spell definitely right..... Half of you are using smartphones anyway. Don't they have autocorrect? Or did you spell it wrong so many times it just said "**** it"?

Actually the autocorrect often misspells words. Yes autocorrect is that bad. Technology is definitely not something to rely on too much. And OP you should really try and educate your mother so she isn't that ignorant in the future.

If you want to protect yourself from computer viruses, you'll need to buy this new cable condom that fits snugly between your cable and router!

Watch out OP, I hear that those Nigerian servers are rampant with 'Computer AIDS'!

She's right, other nations are using CD-roms to transfer harmful biolological agents to the U.S. to weaken the citizens morale and destroy us from the inside. We must protect ourselves, gather all CD-roms and destroy them to protect ourselves! Fight this threat! Do this for your country!

Do older tape and vinyl records have older viruses? Like syphilis or the Spanish flu?

37- Those and more, people have discovered traces of whooping cough and even the bubonic plague on some vinyl records and cassettes.

8-Track will protect you from all viruses. No computer with an 8-Track has ever contracted a virus.

Why did you need to handle a CD-ROM anyways? Aside from a walk down memory lane, they've been mostly phased out.

Not everyone buys their music and games digitally, even with Steam and iTunes. Many people would rather have a hard copy.

Does your mom live under a rock? I bet that talking picture box really freaked her out also.
