Today, my parents are forcing me to take my brother with me when I hang out with my friends. This wouldn't be that weird if my brother wasn't 26. FML

Lmao op here! I didn't think this would actually get posted! Here's the follow up. I'm 17 and my brother just moved back home from Minnesota so he doesn't have a whole lot of friends here. My brother and I get along great I just thought it was funny that my mom didn't want my brother to feel left out so she makes me bring him with when I want to go hang out with my friends. It's pretty awkward for my friends and I but I don't mind as long as my mom doesn't expect me to start bringing him with me everywhere. He's 26 not 11!

You're either 13 or 48 Either way I have so many questions. Although if you're 48 and living with your parents I doubt you would be going out, just fapping and playing online games.... Like me.

Does he not have any friends so your mom makes you take him so he can try and make friends with your friends?

I like hanging out with my siblings and I'm 27... Damnit!!!

Hanging out with family is different than hanging out with a friend group that happens to contain a family member and is also about a decade younger than you. I love my teenaged cousins, and we have a great time hanging out together, but I would feel weird as hell hanging out with a bunch of their friends as a 28-yo. I feel for both OP and the brother.

You're a natural joke killer, aren't you 42?

i don't mind it. my brother used to hate hanging out with me lol i was a bit nerdy i guess as a kid so i cramped his style lol. but now that weve gotten older and pretty much never see each other any more hes pretty much regretting it lol

I wish I had that kind of relationship with my brother! I envy you OP

Same thing happened to my friend; her parents made her bring her 26 year old younger sister to our group Christmas party when she turned up at her parents (with her husband) unannounced one weekend. We all felt was somewhat inappropriate but went with it because we knew the amount of grief my friend would get from her mother otherwise. Unfortunately the sister didn't have enough manners to decline

what kind of party was it? lol. i always thought the more the merrier was way parties went? lol

Maybe your parents just want you give your brother a chance to meet some new girls .

Ehh... That might be illegal since she's 17 and her friends probably are, too... you know

lol its just a case of over protective family man. nothing strange about that. even if shes just trying to get him out of the house its always going to be as brothers guard duty. even if he hasnt been there to do so for years if hes home hes gonna get picked for the job no matter what. i know the new parents now-a-days are shit but these parents are parenting correctly lol.

By 26 a person can go an entire tour through the military, retire, get an Associate degree, marry, have kids of his own and have bought a house. This 26 year old is hanging out with teenagers.

lol im 22 still living with me mom and pretty much stay alone, i have a job i just not making enough to move out lol. this guys probably getting out of college looking for a real paying job and the only chances he has to go out is to go to store or hang out with his little sis what would you rather be doing when bored to shit? sit in your room which your getting bored of or go out and interact with real people not caring for the age. its sad reading all of these stories bout older siblings hanging around their younger ones and everyone instantly thinks that person is a creep he/she most likely the protective type. even as a guy with a male older sibling i went through a protected stage when i got older lol i never went anywhere but when i did my bro was usually hanging out with me. was it wierd no was it annoying hell yeah did i hate it nope gave me someone to chat with and vice versa.

hes probably used to chaperoning his little sister around so for him now its probably just him watching out for his little sis its not always creepy for an older brother to go with his younger sister and her friends in most situations especially if no guys in this group lol its not a safe world anymore. though i guess if guys are in this group an older brother would get more defensive lol. as for the mother asking you to take your brother it goes same way unless hes asking her to tell you to take him its really not that creepy lol. in their eyes your still a baby in your family especially if its only you two kids. lol i know from experience even as a guy my mom still sees me as a baby just cause im her youngest -_- big pain in the neck since im 22 lol. your mom will always be this way your bro will lighten up from this when you turn 18 thats when stuff gets strange... well if you were a guy lol since your a girl you stuck with him being around you especially around parties and stuff like that. no older brother wants to find out his little sis got drugged and abused while hes just sitting at home when he could have been there to stop it. 18 or not. lol so good luck.
