Today, while making New Year's resolutions, I realized that I haven't hung out with anybody other than my family in over two years and I started crying. When my mom came in and I explained why I was crying, she replied, "Well that sucks. I'm off to have lunch with some friends. See you later!" FML

Well what was your mom going to do about it? Perhaps comfort and encourage you but other than that nothing probably. You have to make friends yourself, so go out if you are not in school/college anymore or get a job. And try to be friendly, it helps

I sympathize, OP. I'm between jobs now, so I've been going to writer's groups and the gym to entertain myself. It's really hard to find people to hang out with. I'm pretty outgoing, so I chat with people I run into and I know everyone by first name, but I still wouldn't say I've made any friends, only acquaintances. Plus, once I graduated from school, it became harder to find a large group of people around your age.I mainly just call my friends from before I moved when I'm lonely. It's hard making friends from strangers.
