Unlucky

Today, my mom had a baby shower. When it was over, I walked around cleaning up the trash. I saw a card sitting on the table, along with a note to my mom saying, "Better luck with this one." At the moment I'm an only child, and the card was from my grandmother. FML

Perhaps she has had troubles having children between you and this one, and has just been to upset to talk about it to anyone but her mother.

Or maybe it was just entirely irrelevant, and you're thinking too hard. Or possibly your mother had trouble with your childbirth (a lot of pain, complications, whatever), and your grandma's wishing her luck with not having that happen again.

whether or not you deserved that comment..its rude to put that in your mothers card..she should be sending positive energy her way..not telling her how ****** up her 1st child is...people have no class or concern for others

HAHA #7 Well this kind of depends on the situation - I agree that you seem like a nice kid, so your grandmother probably meant something else - pregnancy troubles, or maybe you were difficult as a child, or something. Maybe ask your mom about it? But don't sweat it :)

#36, I didn't get what a baby shower means, and it seems like a very silly and unsuitable name for it. thanks #7.

#7 don't be ignorant...I'm not american and I know what baby shower means. Just because you're not american doesn't mean you don't know what things are. OP, this could mean many different things. So don't worry.

Anyone ever think think that maybe the grandmother was just joking??

I agree with #49. As a second child, I've joked with my older brother "The firstborn was experimental. I'm the one mom and dad got right!" and this reads as a joke meant in the same spirit.

#49: nope. Grandmas I know don't joke in ways that are mean about other people. - Maybe I've been hanging out with the wrong kind of grandma? #24 wins for funniest and most whimsical post. Thanks #7 for the translation - at least some some folks were generous enough to think you were being helpful. It's not like you said: "you want .. I translate ... ching-chong?"

That's sad... I hope you'll figure out that the case was something like what #1 said.

Um, you people are stupid. #7 clearly states "it was confusing" (S)he isn't being a patronizing American... (s)he wanted to help other people who couldn't understand...
