I just gave birth to a 12.8lb baby almost 3 weeks ago. No one knew he was going to be that large, if they had known I would've been given a c-section instead. I was going for short hikes 2 days before I even gave birth. Our bodies are built to deliver but it was hard and exhausting. If you're aware that large babies run in your family then just let Dr know that you'll be more monitored and if you have to have a c-section then that's what it is! Once you have your baby you'll be too busy to even worry about how much pain you were in anyways. You got this! ;D
dear OP, smack your husband. you're pregnant and joking about large babies is not permitted. then relax and realise his mum must have had undiagnosed gestational diabetes and your own genetics will play a big part. congrats!
Fattest baby in my family was a premie and ultimately won the "fattest baby in [insert hometown name] contest. I think he was 12lbs or something? He was born a month early.. and as several have said? My mom had full blown gestational diabetes at that point. There are 6 kids in my family, we are all now over 6' tall (even me, the girl) and most weight 8-10lbs. The younger the kid, the heavier the baby, because each pregnancy brought more serious diabetes influences. So yeah, I'd talk to your OBGYN and maybe discuss testing for gestational diabetes during your pregnancy even if you don't appear to have signs, just so you can do whatever can be done to keep baby's weight down :)
I'm pretty sure that if your husband weighed 15 pounds at birth then he most definitely wasn't premature. I think he's exaggerating and you're gullible.

A search for the heaviest babies ever shows #10 as being 15 lbs. So either your husband is joking or he should be in the record books.
C-section, FTW.
