It's hard at first, but with time you'll find someone that shares your interests. Everyone feels this way at some point in their life. Your father probably cares about you, but didn't know what to say. My mother is also really hard to talk to. Don't let this keep you down. It takes work, but gaining that confidence you don't have is a battle. Do something you love, treat yourself, and ultimately allow that to make you happier. And with time, you'll feel better about yourself, and more willing to meet new people. And hopefully, at that time, you'll gain friends. I wish you all the luck in the world on your future endeavors. You'll get there, and I'll have my fingers crossed for your sake the entire way through.
