A teacher's burden

By Anonymous - 13/05/2009 17:46 - Canada

Today, a parent came into my class and told one of my 6 year-old students that their grandma died. Then the parent left. The kid started crying from the news, which then got all the other students crying. I spent the rest of the day comforting a class of kids crying over someone else's grandma. FML

Kids will cry over anything, although it sucks you have to deal with it. Sorry charlie. And how shitty of the mom to just come by tell the bad news and leave.

The kid's mom didn't take him/her home? Jeez.

The parent should have taken the kid out of school for the rest of the day. #8 and #12 - A class filled with kids crying over someone they didn't know who passed away isn't cute...

Way to complain. Poor children. YDI.

You should have just told them that no one's grandma ever dies... they just go to live on a nice farm in the country, where they can bake cookies and play bridge every day forever.

To everyone saying YDI or that she should be happy to comfort them, and especially #12, you're all pretty much morons. I don't care what your profession is, NO ONE is going to enjoy a day being surrounded by crying little children. People go into child care because they like children, not because they like a roomful of upset and crying kids that they have to comfort all day because of some stupid parent's idiocy. I feel that #12 needs a special little suggestion: don't breed. Please. Your complete lack of perspective amazes me.

She was obviously just overwhelmed at having a classful of crying children, who are often inconsolable when they get really upset. #12, you're a stupid dirty moron.

Call them all a Whaaaaaaaaaaambulance to take them to the boo-hoo-hooospital.

12 and 19 - the kids are crying over something that doesn't affect them at all — that's ridiculous. the teacher must have been overwhelmed by a class of 20 something little kids sobbing hysterically. this isn't her being unsympathetic.

The parent is a jerk for doing that. Such news is best reserved for a personal talk at home; it could have waited. Sorry to hear that.

That poor kid! FYL? You're grandmother didn't just die nor did you make a whole classroom of kids cry or have your parent abandon you in class like that. **** that kids life
