While that’s a definite downer, take it for what it is - Mom is being honest with you. Obviously you had no say or choice in the matter and it’s not your fault. Hopefully, otherwise Mom has been a loving mom to you. Remember this as you go forward - Do not have children unless both you and the father to be wants children and is prepared to take care of them. Don’t make the regrets span multi-generations.
That hurts. I'm sorry but that's a common feeling that's grown over the years. Most people won't even admit it (your mom obviously is on thr contrary). Kids cost money, very time consuming, and can even shorten the parent's lifespan (I'm not joking). Unlike Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z are now choosing to be single (or got no choice; guilty as charged), or choosing to not have kids so they can focus on themselves and persue their life goals. When you have a kid, you kiss a good ass half of those goals and money away. Again, very sorry your mom said that but don't feel alone. Treat yourself by having a better lifestyle and having more money than her in the future.
