Today, I told my mom I was thinking of having a baby. She told me it was a huge mistake because children cost a fortune, make you miserable, and if she'd had her chance again she would have gotten her tubes tied when she was 18 and saved herself the grief. Gee, thanks mom. FML

Today, I was advised to never have kids because they ruin your life, ruin your body, cost you money, stress you out, and the end result is they become an adult you don’t even really like or would choose to spend time with if you weren’t related. It was both my parents who gave me this advice. FML

Today, once again, my mom ranted about how she sacrificed so much for me by moving to a better city. I said it was for my education and to stop making me feel like a burden. She scoffed, "Right, you never should've been born. My mistake." FML

Today, my mom came home heavily drunk. As I was taking care of her, she told me all about how I was a mistake. That didn't hurt nearly as much as when she told me she wishes I'd died during her pregnancy. FML

Today, I told my dad that I'm pregnant. He shook his head and said, sadly, "What a waste. You're way too young to throw your life away like this." Silly me; I was worried that at 46 I might be too old for this. FML

Today, I was talking to my mom about when I have kids. I told her I may want two or three. She immediately cut me off and told me to stick to one, and that any more than that will be a burden. I am the second born child of my family. FML

Today, I asked my husband if it was a good time to think about having kids. His response was, "ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NEVER." I’ve always wanted to be a mom and he knows that. I feel like I’ve wasted my life. FML

Today, I tried having some girl time with my mom so I could sneakily figure out what to get her for her birthday. All I could think of in the end was a time machine, after her rant about wishing she'd gotten her tubes tied rather than going through the stress of raising me and my sister. FML

Today, I told my mom my husband and I were considering having another baby. She said, "No!" about 30 times. Then later she texted me that she insists on no more kids. I guess I will never have that bonding moment with her. FML

Hahahahaha lmao. She ain't lying! Sorry to hear that, OP. But she spoke the truth. I'm not a father but I don't need to be to confirm her accuracy. Having a baby is extremely expensive and life taxing. You'll save money and years of your life by not having any. #yaybirthcontrol

I have a 1 year old and although some of this is true, I wouldn't change it for the world. I wouldn't have a second one due to traumatic birth and hating pregnancy but they bring happiness, unconditional love and so much joy and funny times it's worth it. Maybe once he's 18 my tone will change but for now it's worth it. Ignore your mum and if you're in a stable relationship with a partner who will share responsibilities go for it 😊

it's the best and worst thing in life having kids. I have 2 boys and love them to death. wouldn't change them for the world but they do my my life hell..

I have 2 adult daughters that I love with all my heart but I gave them the exact same advice! Thankfully, they both had already decided they did not want children. No way would I/they want to raise children in today's world. I do dote on all my 4, 2 legged and slithering grand babies though!!

While what she said is hurtful, you have to make your own decisions based on what YOU want, not what she or anyone else thinks. Yes children come with financial obligations and sometimes heartache, but they also come with love and joy if that's what you want. Please decide BEFORE you get pregnant, though. Having a child you don't want is hard on both of you.
