Bitch Better Have My Money

Today, I called my boss to ask if my paycheck had been deposited yet. He said no, that my grandmother came in to work and picked it up. Confused, I called her. She is holding it ransom until I start calling home every day. I do, but she gets so drunk, she doesn't remember. FML

Is it legal to release the check to someone other than you?

Well, why not visit when she's drunk and take it back?

It doesn't matter if the person is a minor. It isn't legal anyway because the grandmother is not OP's parent. Only legal guardians have rights like that.

1) Why did your boss give your grandmother your cheque, especially when it was supposed to be direct deposited? 2) That's theft. Have your boss cancel the cheque and write you another one and/or report the theft to the police.

You need to report that. It's illegal for your boss to release your paycheck to anyone except you without written consent and your signature

If she's a direct contact it would be fine. However, she's your grandma, I understand she wants your attention, that's what grandmas want-- regardless of drinking habits.

So you asked your boss if the check was deposited but it was picked up?.. Story makes no sense.

I'm confused it was suppose to be deposited? Then how would anyone get it? you or anyone else?

So you call your boss to find out if you had money in your bank account and your boss told you that he gave it to your grandmother? If this isn't fake, have your boss put a stop payment on the check and reissue a new one. Bam. Problem solved.
