I actually have inflammation in my ribcage that hurts like the worst chest pain you could possibly imagine (a billion times worse than asthma) if I engage in any kind of exercise. Including sex.

I've diagnosed costochondritis before, and it's nothing like asthma, so I don't know why it was even brought up? And it's curable, usually goes away on its own, and not life threatening.

I'm 100% sure the doctors have dealt with this kind of thing, if not, the they will be professional. Doctors feel no awkward.

Doctors see much worse things, and much more awkward things than this. This is nothing to be embarrassed about in front of a doctor. I've seen guys come in the ER with glass bottles stuck in their ass, and were doing it for pleasure. Now THAT is awkward.

Any time I've had to go to emergency for an asthma attack, no doctors or nurses have asked what caused it. Sometimes they just happen out of nowhere, and it's usually solved in the same way no matter how. So OP would be safe from that awkward explanation haha
