Today, my dad justified leaving two of my three kids out of his will because they’re adopted and so not really his proper grandchildren, telling me I can’t seriously expect him to just give his money to people who aren’t real family members. FML

That's tough. Unfortunately its his will which is his way or the high way. Sorry, OP. Not much you can do.

What an assholish move. If my parents had done that with the two kids I adopted, I would consider my parents dead and never visit them again.

Sure there is, cut the father out of his and his kids life. If he refuses to acknowledge the adopted kids, then he doesn’t deserve any grandkid visits

my stepfather cut one of his son's kids out of his will saying "she gets nothing, she knows what she did". sorry but a person's will IS "their way or the highway". Also if this son said "well then no visits for you", I am sure dad wouldn't have any problem cutting him out of it, along with any kids he did provide for. yep, you can say "it's an a-hole move", but it's is the dad's right to provide or not provide, for anyone he chooses. PS- nothing says the son can't give the adopted kids part of his inheritance either.

well their will can involve all three so idk what the issue is

Don’t sweat it. Sure Dad’s being a jerk. But Dad has the right to do as he chooses with his money. And you have the right to feel the way you do. But frequently an inheritance comes out to be a lot less than everyone expects. It’s just not worth getting upset about. Unless you are one of the “One Percent” the only thing you can really count on is what you manage to earn yourself.

If the laws of your country allow that, your country is pretty much ****** up.

It’s his call and belief, that doesn’t make him a bad person.

My MiL did the same thing. She would only accept hubby's blood kids but not our two. He adopted my son and we adopted my niece. Here's the irony.. my hubby is ALSO adopted.. so none of those kids are her blood kin anyway. Go figure! =)
