Confused

Today, I was interviewing a woman for a job. She told me that she may need days off because of her artistic son. I jokingly replied, "Does he color on the walls or something?" She then stared at me with a weird look on her face. Autistic, her son is autistic. FML

Well, they do sound alike... You could explain to her the misunderstanding and everything may be cleared up.

Awkward moment... Hope the rest of the Interview went OK!

If i was looking to employ a person and they told me they were looking to have days off to look after someone I wouldn't be offering them the job at all

really? have you never been in a difficult situation with a loved one before?

Autism is a disability and not hiring someone due to a disabled child would cause you severe legal ramifications.

And that's why you're not an HR or hopefully are not one because ya shouldn't be

So wanting to hire someone who can't commit 100% to a job is a bad thing ? Feel for her having an autistic kid but it won't be fair on her company or fellow employees is she having time off all the time

But how do you prove that to be the case ?

That's an awkward situation. Hopefully uou cleared up the misunderstanding OP.

Ah, smarmy, sarcastic, arrogant job interviewers. Everyone's favourite.

well i hope she got the job..doesnt she?

Seriously of your interviewing someone and they say they need days of its apparently something import enough to have to miss even reading soon as you said artistic I new she meant autistic sorry but I don't mean to be mean but people make fun of them to much if I see someone autistic being made fun of I'll defend them. There is nothing with them wrong they are just different

op wasn't making fun of autistic people at all...
