Double standard

Today, I spent five hours sobbing in my room due to antidepressant withdrawal. My mother refused to come and talk to me, because I'm "a terrible, hateful child who only cares about herself." Last week, I spent two hours comforting her because my brother hadn't called in a week. FML

Withdrawls from anti depressants can kill you. You should be under tha advisement of a doctor when doing it.

Not the withdrawals from the medicine, but the emotional effects. But then again, after 3 weeks when you're just on anti-depressants, you have a higher chance of suicide as well. You can't/shouldn't take anti-depressants without seeing a psychologist. He or she'll help you through the rough patches.

I wonder if your depression is anything to do with her narcassism...

I'm sorry, but your family sounds very disfunctional.

That sucks OP! I'm the black sheep to my mother as well...parents can be such ass holes at times!

That would so give me anxiety! Sorry:(

Whether or not she's taking the anti-depressants on a perscription or not, she needed them if she cried herself out like that. Plus, leaving your daughter to cry for 5 hours from a withdrawal and calling her such terrible things while she comforted you for two hours because your son hadn't called is arrogant. It's selfish because the mother probably wanted the attention. Five hours of crying, plus such a horrible comment, is just a horrible thing to experience.
