Freakout

Today, my soon-to-be step-daughter had as absolute meltdown at our rehearsal dinner, screaming that I ruined her family. Her parents were divorced 10 years before I even met him. Her mother was there because we’re friends. She’s 23 years-old. I honestly don’t know which one of us was more embarrassed. FML

Emotionally speaking, some people never grow up. There is such a thing as an emotional idiot and I think Step Daughter to be is that. Everyone there with half a functioning brain will know that this is the situation. The only thing you “ruined” was her illogical dream of her parents getting back together someday - That’s why the tantrum… Be glad that the brat is an “adult” and is either out of the house or will be soon.

She's 23. As an adult she doesn't have to worry about her parents' business. At her age she doesn't need a relationship with her father or her stepmother. If she doesn't want to be civil, then she doesn't have to attend the wedding. Problem solved.

Her mother was 23 years old? So she got divorced when she was 13? I'm so confused.

The daughter was 23 years old.

Oh, then that makes more sense. Usually I associate a pronoun with its nearest antecedent. Ok, then my bet is the OP is more embarrassed since the mother has had 23 years to adjust to her daughter's insanity.

The mother was actually her 23-year old stepmother. The daughter just wants some consistency in her life.

So the biological mom was in her 50s? This is starting to make sense.

where did these ages come from? 🤣

Crazy people make them up. I'm guessing the groom/ex-husband/father at the center of this is a 107-year-old giant tortoise.

I hope she got banned from the wedding.
