Your parents sound like radical religious zealots. Best to keep your religious perspectives to yourself from them. Believe me, that's a war you don't want.
Basically I agree with you - There should be serious consequences for a church which does not protect vulnerable children... However, people of a “certain age” (parent and grandparent age) are not usually open to negative comments or doubts about their religious (or political) affiliation. That’s not saying that every older person swallows every lie told to them by traditional authorities - Just that if your parents haven’t figured this out for themselves then you’re not going to convince them. It’s usually easiest as a young adult to keep those thoughts and comments to yourself since you are not going to change their minds on this subject.
people in general dont like their beliefs criticized not just older people. case and point twitter, both conservatives and liberal have absolutely insufferable people among them. Its all ages and races, ignorance is universal
There already is a solution for that in that states anyways. Throw perpetrators and those that protect them in prison. if it were up to me, they wouldn't get special treatment either and would end up in general population so that justice can be served.
I could be wrong, but seeing as you are mature enough to research these topics yourself makes me think that you could be near legal age to live on your own. Best advice I could think of is find peer support groups to vent to, and keep your opinion to yourself regarding religion (with your parents) just to make it bearable untill you have total freedom.
