Getting through this

Today, just three weeks after my wife died, I received a substantial life insurance payment. Do I laugh or cry? FML

You cry. You cry because no amount of money could ever bring your wife back and she should mean more to you than anything. I know if my husband died, it would kill me.

buy something that reminds you of your wife, something you enjoyed together, and do what you want with the rest, don't feel guilty

you do whatever you feel you need to do. only you can decide how you grieve your wife's passing. my condolences to you and your family. ps-dont tell anyone you got the money or they will be vultures trying to get their hands on it.

I am very sorry about your loss. Don't feel guilty about the money.

You cry first, and you cry for as often as you need. You laugh when people (like those in her family, and to a lesser extent yours) come around asking for money.

One hundred percent this. The ghouls will come...
