Good riddence

Today, I found out my favorite teacher didn't actually "retire" last year like she said to me. She was quietly fired after saying that, "Women who dress provocatively in public are asking to be r*ped" to a class full of teenage girls. I can't believe I used to idolize this woman. FML

I had a teacher tell me that I deserved it when I was r*ped because I'd worn a v-neck a few days before (which was before my attacker even met me). Instead of her getting fired, I've just had the pleasure of trying the last couple decades to reprogram the internalized guilt over letting it happen to me. The fact that she was allowed to stay and say things like that to victims just reinforced that she must be right. I'm sorry your teacher has fallen from grace, but I'm glad she won't be victim blaming the next generation of young girls.

It's 2023. We've been talking about victim blaming long enough that it's not a logical fallacy. It's willful ignorance that should not be taught to the next generation.

Actually this is a common myth with no data to support it. Though I do think that really sucks that the teacher got fired for believing in a common logical fallacy. I would hope most employers would let them issue a correction and this wouldn't have had to be a big deal. This could have been a great opportunity to teach the class about the importance of admiting when you're wrong and how to handle that situation with decorum.

Perpetuating unfounded ideas and making outlandish statements as this former teacher did, are both unacceptable behaviors from those responsible for teaching our kids. These are certainly grounds for disciplinary action. And lessons have been taught: watch what you say and do on the job. Especially when responsible for cultivating young minds. Better to keep inflammatory rhetoric to oneself than be fired.

They probably "asked" her to retire. When you fire someone, a whole bunch of legal trouble can follow.

Quietly fired? They should make it go with a boom. What a jerk, that teacher. Had to be a crazy wake up, when she showed her colours.
