Hello?

Today, at my new job, I was answering the phone and said "Hello Cafe Thirty, how may I help you?" The man on the other line said "Don't you mean Old Town Cafe?" Cafe Thirty was my old job. I now work at Old Town Cafe. The man on the other line was my boss. FML

That's embarrassing. However, it's a new job, and old habits take a while to overcome. At least you answered politely.

no big deal. I know people who answer like that accidentally when I call their house

such a common thing. Habits are hard to break sometimes. I remember answering the phone at home and saying the name of the place where I worked. it was my boss calling. he thought it was hilarious. this was back before caller ID.

i work at home depot. if i greeted someone at the door with "welcome to lowes" i would be fired on the spot. ydi

Unless your boss is a major ass, this isn't that big of a deal. You may get teased for awhile, but that should be the long and short of it. If your boss fires you for something so minor (I'm sure you apologized), or even gets really down on you for it, you don't want to be working at this place anyway.

It's okay. Everybody makes a mistake now and then. I'm sure your boss would understand that.

I hope your boss will be cool with it. Everyone makes mistakes and letting your tongue slip is not uncommon. It should only be an issue if it happens quite often.

GOD HOW COULD YOU SCREW UP THE WORDS LIKE THAT?! YOUR LIFE IS SO ******!!!!!

that's happened to me but on my house phone I answer as if I'm at work

I used to accidentally do this at my job all the time- especially when I was working two jobs. My boss thought it was hilarious. I don't think your life is ******. :)

Used to work at a call center supporting multiple desks, each with different greetings. I was always afraid that I'd answer the call from the school district and thank them for calling the hospital service desk...
