How can I put this…?

Today, I went with my girlfriend to the mall. We were looking at jewellery in Zales and she came across the engagement rings. She looks at one and says, "Are you kidding me? That ring is hideous and it's the most expensive one here! Who the fuck would buy that?" Well, that would be me. FML

Return and exchange! Choose one she liked! If she has to wear it her whole life it better be something she doesn't think is "hideous".

I'm with #10. Also, if you don't know her well enough to know what ring she would like, you don't know her well enough to get married. You should be paying attention to her style of jewelry 3 months into the relationship.

What if she's someone like me, who doesn't wear jewellery? My boyfriend didn't have a clue what kind of ring I liked until I told him.

Don't feel too bad, I'm a girl, and I couldn't tell you what type of ring I would really want until I actually saw it...so, I don't blame you, but I would try and exchange it if you can.

Ohhh I was in a similar situation two years ago, only I was the girl... He'd bought the ring, and planned it all out, he was proposing at my birthday party, in front of all my family... This was all to happen in June, but he got excited and bought the ring in January. We were talking one day about a ring I saw in a catalog and I mentioned I HATE "chunky" rings. Little did I know I was sitting not even a meter away from my very very chunky huge engagement ring, which I now wear on a necklace. (I wasn't allowed to wear it at work due to its size, so we bought a smaller ring that now serves as my "official" engagement ring)

maybe you should have gone there with her BEFORE you bought her the ring...yes? not too obvious?

Haha.... I picked out my own ring to avoid a situation like this.

I would have just said well I do. And then I would have just proposed and been like will you marry me? Shed forget the ring and be happy:)

HER ring should be for her.. Not him. She most likely wouldn't say no but if you are getting married to someone, you want them to be happy with the ring you are giving them to wear.

Yeah you should have shopped around with her first, to get subtle ideas and see what she might like...
