It's about time you face the fact that your son might be a dumbass!!
tat
most comments i've read here say "kick him out." i wanna know why he's still there in the first ******* place. he should have been kicked out/out by his own choice, around 8 years ago, at the very least. maybe 5 if he was a scholar, in college, paying cheap rent saving up. either way he should of been out along time ago. so i believe this is your responsibility, for not teaching him responsibility, although it's pretty hard to teach your child something you don't have yourself and you obviously don't have any responsibility. and it's sad. and even more sad that having a child didn't teach you any either. i feel more sad for your son for having a mother that didn't teach him any responsibility, and not able to make him a responsible adult that could be out of his mommy's house and a functioning adult by the time he was 29.
and usually i would say let up on him, everyone is there own person, and if he wants to be that way then let him, that could just be him, not a phase, i hate when people call other peoples choice of lifestyle and clothing, a phase, it's not always. but in this case, i don't know what to say other than, he seems to be a little developmentally delayed and you need to have that checked, otherwise maybe something recently happened in his life that changed him that way. hell maybe he's trying to get you to kick him out on his own whether he knows it or not idk. I really wanna know why you haven't kicked him out on his ass by now, force him to grow up. he's 29, biologically his brain is totally capable of doing it, he is mentally grown up.

kick his ass out of the house.
I would have typed "give him a timeout" then I read the end.
