Today, I finished and turned in the last of the 17 major projects for the company I work for. As I was walking out of my boss's office, I heard her ask her assistant, "She finished everything we didn't want to do, can we fire her now?" FML

Yes, thanks to our soulless "employment at will" policy, they can do whatever the he'll they want.

Easy solution: move to Russia. In Soviet Russia, you fire your boss.

I'd walk right back in there, pick up the project, destroy that shit right in front of her face, and then tell her, "By the way, I quit. Saves you from having to fire me." Stand up for yourself, OP! >(

you can't be sure she was talking about you.

well, you can probably sue for wrongful termination if you can prove that she said it

I know this is a bit off to the side of the topic, but WHY IN HELL would your boss have to ask her ASSISTANT for permission to fire you?
