it's the thought that counts :) at least she was nice about it
Well if she complains again you can tell her to cook for the family instead. Maybe try something other than pizza, maybe takeout if you haven't tried it yet?
My mother cooks a wonderful dinner most nights, and other nights, I cook to help her out. Don't be so ignorant, plenty of other American families do the same thing. A lot of us value the quality and taste of food. Watch Bizarre Foods: America. Perhaps that'll give you a better view of what it's really like over here.
I'm sorry, let's just make a stereotypical, ignorant comment about Americans because we are all overweight, lazy and no American family eats healthy.
@43 & 51. You do realise she is American right?
EDIT: LONG COMMENT ALERT! (I didn't realize it was so long, sorry) But 58, she can't speak for us ALL. She sees a lot of overweight Americans, and her family eats unhealthy food, so she assumes that that's all Americans? We cook in our family (though I'm a first generation American, and my mom's from a family where you cook every meal) I babysat for a lot of people who never order out, they always cook healthy meals, and snacks/dessert are fruit (cantaloupe, etc). They have been living in America for many generations, and the mom comes home from work, and cooks, or the older son cooks, or the dad. And I babysat for other families who cook healthy foods in the morning, or the day before, or on the weekend and done days during the week and plan out each meal, meal by meal, knowing what they'll eat days before. They eat leftovers some days, and cook on other days. They plan what they'll cook, then go grocery shopping. Just because a lot of families don't cook, always offer pizza, and are obese doesn't mean all families in America are that way. You lumping us all into one group is what makes a lot of us take issue with your first comment. AND OP, maybe you guys should cook more often. You can get recipes online, and your wife can try her hand at it too if she's complaining that much. It can't be healthy to always eat pizza. I see high cholesterol, clogged arteries, heart attacks, etc. in your future, and the future of your family of you ALWAYS order pizza. Even if the kids don't like the healthy food, they should eat it (once your cooking improves, of course...) Invest some of the money spent ordering pizza in healthier foods that you can make at home. You'll live longer, and your kids will live longer as well. It's time consuming, but if you live longer, and don't have to go on a bunch of medication to fix the issues caused by unhealthy eating, it's worth it. It may be a hard habit to break, but you still be healthier for it, and you'll be able to teach your children a healthy way of eating.
While I did not see she was American, as stated, she should not be speaking for all of us. I do believe she still needs to watch Bizarre Foods: America, as it will still show her just how many families value good cooking, and what lengths people are willing to go to to have delicious, healthy food. Stereotypes are becoming quite an issue for everyone.
Wtf are you talking about 14? You live in America and have never had a healthy homemade meal? Feel bad for your shitty upbringing but don't go and generalize and talk out your ass out about which you obviously know nothing about. My mother and father made amazingly delicious AND healthy meals pretty much all the time. We had pizza and the sorts every once in a while. But don't go making dumb ass comments about something you obviously know nothing about other than this post and your upbringing. I'm sorry but shit like this offends and really pisses me off when generalizations are made based off ignorance or assholiness.
And just to clarify before some one says it. Yes, while Americans are known to be more obese and unhealthy eaters than other countries, it doesn't mean we all are. So please don't make a comment as god forbid an American family eats a health meal, because plenty do every night.
I cook dinner for my family most nights, and I always make some sort of protein and tons of vegetables. One of my favorite recipes is chicken/beef stir fry with seven different veggies. And yes, I am an American, just not currently living there.
Well at least you gave it shot. Maybe she won't have you cook again.
is it silly that I read that and think, "only an hour?" unless I'm doing something simple, I usually expect to spend 2-3 hours cooking. not that I'm complaining, though. I actually like cooking. :)
Kudos to those that spend awhile making a meal. I can't seem to find the time to make a meal that takes longer than 25-30 minutes. (I also don't have the patience, especially if I'm real hungry)
dog food!
Yes that sucks but, think of it this way...now she will stop nagging you to make dinner!
See it as a good thing, now you keep ordering pizza and she can cook. Win win in my books buddy lol
Maybe cooking wasn't your calling. Order takeout and pretend u made It. Or watch a cooking class online in the you tubes
All I could think of is the scene from "Mrs. Doubtfire" when I read your comment. Perfect idea... until he gets caught stomping around in an old lady face and dress :P
What did you make?

Who cares? It's pizza.
it would be funny if you were making pizza.
