Management

Today, I was fired, all because I asked my manager for help on the line when we were short staffed and he was on his butt in the office. He said it wasn't his job to help us. Apparently, asking your manager for help when you're busy gets you fired. FML

It is most certainly his job to get off his ass and to help anyone who is in needs anywhere in the store. Whatever was in the office most certainly could have waited until after things calmed down on the line.

It's a managers job to do all of that AND help out their employees wherever it's needed. A management position is so much more work, and why it comes with a pay raise. This isn't elementary school, where supervising means watching everyone else do the work.

Its easy to say its his job to help but we really don't know the situation. And the fact op got fired makes me think it was more than just asking for help. Maybe its the way she did it, maybe she screamed at the manager from the other side of the office, maybe they were only two customers and the manager felt that if you can't handle this then your no use, ill fire you and do it all myself and still get payroll done in time. Because honestly if the manager is really lazy why fire someone and be more short staff than you are already. I'm just playing devils advocate here cuz everybody is assuming the manager had nothing to do
