Nice to see you

Today, my father, who I rarely see, drove 400 miles to my wedding. I was so happy to see him, until he got completely trashed at my reception, asked me where he could "score some weed" and told me what a bitch my mom was, and how I needed to lose weight. For over an hour. At my wedding. FML

I'm so sorry. Try not to let him get to you. It's your special day! Remember next time, you do have the right to make him leave your parties...he really would have deserved that.

Did you tell him to go **** himself? Seriously, disown the jerk. How dare he ruin one of the most important occasions of your life?!

Oh, he's "that guy." Don't invite him to any of your weddings ever again. That'll show 'em.

Your father sounds like my father.

#22 You must be one of those people who STILL didn't understand that EVERY SINGLE FML has to start with "Today" so the OP could VERY well have posted the story after they got married and got back from their honeymoon, or even 5 years later...it doesn't mean they got married and the next thing they did was jump on FML to share the story...

That's what groomsmen are for. Ours were on patrol for that exact thing at my wedding, and were informed to escort those people out.

This wasn't a bad FML, but the wording kind of makes me cringe. "wedding" didn't need to be reiterated, it should have been saved for the punchline. The situation sounds laaame though, sorry to hear it, but nobody's wedding is perfect... everyone has that one story of something totally crappy that happened on the big day. At my parents' my maternal grandma (now estranged) got drunk and bitched at my dad all night.

At least he didn't show up wasted.

You should have had him escorted out. Seriously. No one deserves that on their wedding day.

your dad sounds like white trash.

You've never been to a wedding before have you. I suppose the FATHER getting lamp-shade wearing drunk isn't so common, but come on.
