Today, my boyfriend treated me to a surprise romantic dinner, got me a huge balloon bouquet, a dozen roses, and a beautiful card for my birthday. Too bad it's his ex's birthday and not mine. FML

Just be happy he's the kind of guy to do something like this for you. When it comes to birthdays or Christmas last minute he's always like sooo what do you want? OP he did this for you no prompting required shows how thoughtful he is even if it was a mistake.

It amazes me how some guys are so bad when it comes to birthday/ anniversary dates but ask them a sports trivial question and they'll remember the play, the player, year, score etc.....all in fine details. :P

So he doesn't have strong calendar skills. But he sounds like he put a lot of effort into making you feel special. Put your birthday in his phone, enjoy the *total* surprise, and tell him thanks anyway after huffing some helium from those balloons.

Did you recall that it was his ex's birthday before or after you gave him the obligatory "Thank you" ********? Hopefully it was before. Use it to your advantage to get even more swag and attention for your special day. "Wow Sweetie, if this is what you would do for your ex, I cannot wait to see what I get on my birthday!" Get set for some diamonds!
