No reunion for you

By anyone - 02/09/2010 04:48 - Lebanon

Today, while browsing Facebook, I found out that today was my school's class reunion. I was the ONLY one not invited. FML

I'm disappointed by the extremely hurtful comments posted here about the OP. Have none of you been lonely before? Do you not know what empathy means? Not every unpopular person is a mean-hearted Scrooge; some are very nice but lack the social skills necessary to make friends.

That's a lie. OP is for Oriental Penis.

i just giggled insanely. I'm guessing you were a "loser/outcast" in high school :P

#45 So what if they were an outcast? Being well-known in high school doesn't mean you're going to be "popular" all your life, and it certainly doesn't always mean that you're a good person if you're well-known. #43 is right. I was practically invisible in high school, but that doesn't mean I was an awful person. I was just too shy to reach out and make connections to many people.

43, I lack the social skills to make friends AND I'm a mean-hearted scrooge. :)

I'm thinking 45 is either still in high school, or is one of those rare delusional adults who think high school is srs bizness. Freaks and Geeks FTW.

#55 Yep. Jane: Haha. Agreed! And Freaks and Geeks is one of my faves.

59, I can understand why 99% percent of this site hates me, but what is YOUR deal?

Schizomaniac 24

62, oh. Apparently I have not improved. Well, my apologies. Thank you for making me feel stupid.

#64 I think you did that on your own. It wasn't my intention to make you feel stupid.

Schizomaniac 24

I know, but it was a by-product of the provided clarification. I feel an odd semi-tension between us. Make it go away -_-

#68 Isn't there always tension? You're the one that followed me around threads and randomly replied to my comments with something irrelevant and purposefully aggravating. :P

I think he likes you and this is the cyber equivalent of pulling on your pig tails.

Or he's a nerd and he hopes he gets you hot.

71, it isn't exclusive to her. 72, no.

Schizomaniac 24

#75 I DID let it go. Again, I meant to bring it up in a TEASING way and not in a "OMG, LEAVE ME ALOOONE" way.

Schizomaniac 24

Either you need to work on your sarcasm delivery or I need to work on interpreting tones :P

#45: yeah, I was an outcast in high school. I was never mean, but had no idea how to make friends. My Asperger's and my speech disorder didn't help either.

#43 I agree with you, i'm in High school but not very popular. I try to be nice to people but sometimes their standards are way too high!

maybe they couldn't find you. my mom almost didn't get invited because they didn't know where she went. ydi for not speaking up

That would make sense if OP was a married woman who didn't use her maiden name anymore. But OP is a guy-- a guy who is obviously on facebook. Unless he's majorly changed his appearance and/or didn't include school info on his profile, he should've been easy to find.

I feel your pain. people in my class/school would probably forget to invite me too. They're a bunch of d-bags.

I would go anyways. Then I'd go up to the person that sent the invitations and say "So uh, why didn't you send me one?"

I went to a high school reunion recently and hardly anyone remembered me-- and if they did, they didn't care enough to greet me or anything. The only reason I was invited was because my friends got the invitation and passed it along to me. So no worries, OP...It happens to the best of us. :/

Yeah that's what I was thinking, usually grudges or anything don't last that long so it was probably just sent to someone with a similar name, or idk, you got it but threw it away?

...No shit?! Who would've thought? :P

Who actually WANTS to go to that bullshit? Graduation was the happiest day of my life, and only AFTER I got to go home and sleep off the trauma caused by sitting with all 765 members of my graduating class at once. >.> Personally, I'd take it as a compliment not to be invited. [My mom wasn't invited to her reunion either and she has a Master's and was a Mensa member, if it makes you feel better. You don't have to be popular in high school to be successful.]

This FML bored me. High School reunions are never like the ones on the TV. Most often they are boring and sparsely attended. My 10 year reunion, to which I didn't go, was downgraded from tours of the new school, a family picnic, and a dance, to about dozen people (out of 250), going to a local pub and having dinner and a few drinks. I wish I hadn't been invited so I wouldn't have wasted the time responding to said invites.
