Polite but wrong

By sucks - 05/01/2011 07:41 - Netherlands

Today, my boss walked in and said something I didn't quite hear, but my co-worker chuckled so to be polite, I laughed with him. They gave me some weird looks. My boss was actually talking about his wife's tumor and my co-worker was coughing. FML

Damn...next time just say "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you." There really is no good way to let your boss know what happened. So, FYL and YDI.

Omg that's awful. I've been in that position one too many times... :/

Ugh, I feel for you. I have a disorder that sometimes affects my aural processing and sometimes you just have to smile and nod to survive. That said, when it's a boss talking, it's really essential that you ask them to repeat things. ("I'm sorry, I missed that. Do you mind repeating?") This time you missed a personal story (albeit a sad one), but next time it could be an instruction that could make or break your chances at a promotion, or even put your job in jeopardy.

Seems just like something I would do,I have know idea why but when other people laugh,I start cracking up and laughing too.I don't even have to know them or know what they are laughing at.Laughings Contagious:D

YDI for trying to fit in and look cool in a conversation you didn't even belong in.

Only a complete moron would laugh just to "fit in". All it ever accomplishes is to make you look like an utter moron. YDI
