That sounds like a great way to get out of something you should never have been part of - An Ex’s wedding.
@Chazzster - Perhaps they're still friends and he wants to be there to support her.
While it’s possible that OP was just trying to be supportive, if you read FML enough you will know that there are a lot of people out there with “crushes” and not-quite-over love who hang around the object of their desire in hopes they will have another shot. That’s not very healthy for anyone for a marriage celebration.
I say win-win?..
Were you going to try to pull that Dustin Hoffman move from "The Graduate?"
Maybe he was going there to nail his ex’s mom.

Your boss’s lack of planning does not automatically constitute an emergency on your part. You are allowed to make plans outside of work and reasonably expect those to go through as planned.
Tell your boss that you have unmovable plans on your regular days off [I mean, the weekend is a long-standing regular pair of days off, and there is an expectation that you won't be working them, period without proper notice and compensation] and this is far too short of notice to change them. So, no - You will not be working all weekend to make up for the company's failure to move the project along at its expected pace.
