Rick Astley did nothing wrong

Today, I was getting my hair dyed in a salon and suddenly 'Never Gonna Give You Up' started playing in the background. Rickrolling isn't common where I live, so I just took some heavy psychic damage while everyone remained blissfully unaware. FML

Today, I was in a meeting when my phone suddenly rang. I'd forgotten to silence it, but it wasn’t just any ringtone, it was "I'm Blue" by Eiffel 65. It played for 30 seconds while everyone stared at me rushing to retrieve it from my bag on the other side of the room and turn it off. The worst part? That fucking song is still stuck in my head, and it's been hours. FML

This is the opposite of a rickroll, though. The entire joke in rickrolling is making someone expect something—a news article, a sewing tutorial, a pirated episode of a tv show—and then subverting their expectations by sending them to that video instead. While if you’re listening to a music station on the radio, music is the entire expectation you have of it, which was met entirely by playing the song.

Hearing the song doesn't mean you got Rickrolled. You have to be tricked into watching the cheesy video for it to count. Even Rick Astley himself got Rickrolled!
