He was going to let you pay the bill!!!
A. Isn't he SUPPOSED to pay the bill? B. if he is that controlling that he won't trust you to come back, there is SO much more wrong than just having to pay half the bill. C. UGH! There is so much more wrong with this whole situation. Take your purse and run!
I have a feeling he was planning on robbing you forcing you to wash dishes for the evening
I sort-of get the feeling that he may have been "stiffed" before. (No dirty puns intended lol) this would definitely be a fyl situation, I'm so sorry OP.
I hope you realize this "charming" guy's behavior was outrageously out-of-line. You're an adult; you don't need anybody's permission to keep your valuables on your person, and you have every right to keep your reasons for doing so private. If he's being disrespectful and controlling toward you now, it's only going to get much, much worse if you continue dating him. That kid sounds like an absolute mess, and it's clear he has a lot of hard lessons to learn before he's ready for a long-term relationship.
Should have whipped out your used pad, and plunked it on top of his food, saying watch this for me till I get back. Like a Boss!
If he was so charming he would have respected that you wanted to take your purse with you.

If he didn't trust you enough to take your purse to the bathroom, then I suggest you don't go out with him. Afterall, trust is one of the main ingredients to a healthy relationship, isn't it?
As embarassing as it may have been, if you didn't you should have tried to explain to him what was going on. I'm sure he would have understood.
