Yo, this isn't so bad. DMC from Run DMC found out he was adopted when he was 35, and it was life changing, turned out life changing in a very good way. Afterwards he wrote his solo album "Just Like Me" (and the song) about being adopted and in order to help others and young kids that were adopted so they could see things better. Apparently, before he found out he was really messed up in his life and constantly considering suicide, and had pretty much decided on it until he found out and it lead to his life changing. He's thankful he was adopted even since he loved his parents, and without the adoption he never would have met Run and Jam Master Jay, and never would have become the legendary hip-hop artist he is today. You should check out his various interviews on the topic sometime, because they're really interesting.

My parents were friends with a couple who adopted two children and never told them they were adopted. The "kids" are now in their 50's, their parents have passed away and they still don't know they were adopted.
