Sorority

Today, I am five days postpartum and my sister came over to see me. After she refused to help me with dishes or do the laundry or grab dinner, I angrily asked why she even came. She replied, "Uh… to meet the baby? You're not entitled to my help, you know." FML

On one hand, what your sister said was kind of bitchy. But on the other hand, it was also completely true.

I can only assume people pressing YDI have not been postpartum themselves. This is not the time to play hostess to guests. If someone wants to see the baby they should help out a little, e.g. bring some food and do their own dishes. It takes a village to raise kids. Telling your own sister you won't help after she has asked - baby or no baby - why bother keeping contact with them if you don't really care about them?

Shoulda been more specific and told her you wanted her to meet your baby AND be your personal maid for the day. YDI

Your sister isn't wrong. She could have handled it with a bit more tact but she's definitely not wrong.

I bet the sister didn't even change the baby's diaper, rocked him/her to sleep, or gave him/her a bath.
