Testing testing

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2015 but it's good stuff - United States - Hood River

Today, one of my friends asked me to flirt with her boyfriend to see if he would flirt back. Knowing this was a trust test, I agreed. She got pissed at me when he flirted back and still isn't speaking to me. FML

How old are you guys? Sounds like she's pretty immature to blame you and not him.

The whole situation seems stupid to me. What did everyone honestly expect to happen here.

Your friend is an idiot for 1) asking you to do this stupid test, 2) assuming flirting = cheating, and 3) getting angry when her idiotic test predictably failed.

Back in my day, a trust test was when you fell backwards to see if your friends would prevent you from hitting the pavement.

Nah man that stuff is bogus, you want a real test? It's the rubber with a yes and a no on each side.

never test a man's genetic impulse. trust them only on face value

Ahh that's lovely, generalising girls like that makes it so much easier for guys to talk shit about us too. Thanks for that.

That's kind of a common guy thing to do...

You shouldn't have agreed to it in the first place, but having asked you to, there is no reason for your friend to be upset with you.

I think ok should have refused. nothing good comes out of getting in the middle of someone else's relationship

Well just keep flirting with him then

Did you do the emoji test too? How faithful was his emoji game? Lol

Honestly, who in their right mind would do this? Shouldn't flirting with your friend's boyfriend feel wrong? Shouldn't being asked to do so raise red flags? I don't see why there isn't more YDIs as you could have avoided this by refusing her request. If she's crazy enough to ask that of you, you should have guessed what was going to happen if you followed through.
