The thrill of it

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, my daughter called me to pick her up at the mall. She said I had to meet her inside a specific store, so I figured she wanted me to pay for something. Turns out I was right; she was being arrested for shoplifting. FML

Call Dr. Phil--he'll fix her up in less than an hour

I used to work at Macy's. The cops would be the ones picking her up, you wouldn't get a chance to bail her out!

Oh shit..... My brother did that too. He stole hairgel. It cost like $200 in the end. We still tease him about how expensive that gel was lol

Let her sit and sweat for a few hours then ground her for a month with heavy labor every day.

I'm gonna say many preteen/teens shoplift at least once. Just not all of them get caught. You do need to have a talk with her, there should be punishment, but as long as its not a reoccuring thing, its not a HUGE deal. (depending on what she took, and the details, of course. May be a bigger deal, but may just be a 1 time thing that a lot of kids do) I stole lip gloss once. Felt terrible and never did it again!

It can also be the symptom of a bigger problem.

I would leave her ass and let her go to jail, don't keep bailing her out of crap or she'll never learn.
