Today, a lady handed me a $10 tip on a $45 bill. I was happy with it, since it was more than 20%, until she came back in and said, "I'm sorry I gave you the wrong amount." I handed it back to her and then she gave me a dollar. FML

Here's a dollar. Go buy yourself something fancy.

I definitely wouldn't feel bad about chewing her out, although you probably need the job. Sorry OP. I know from experience that the food service industry sucks.

Damn bitch needs to work where tips supplement her measly hourly wage and then she will see it differently. It's a shame OP didn't reply with the following: Obviously you need that dollar more than me but thank you anyways for the nice gesture.

Wht an asshole!!! I hate people like that!!!

The bitch left. Technically you don't have to give her back the 10$. Fly and ydi. I would of never given it back to her. Bitch just wanted an excuse to buy something but was short so the ignorant asshole came back and fed you that excuse.

wow some people have absolutely no class, if that had been me and I'd handed someone the wrong thing and last I would have been too embarrassed to go back and say oh okay I'm a cheapskate you want to give me back my $10 so I can give you a lousy dollar bill. $1 on a 45 dollar check is cheap anyway, its an insult if I can you at that point I have told her to keep it because she obviously needs it way more than you do. Good luck in the future and I hope you get way more than generous customers from now on.

Im pretty sure at that point you might as well just not give a tip.

If you give the wrong amount, you're not allowed to take it back. That's like donating to charity but then realizing you want a new computer but gave away the money already.

10% of $45 is just under 20%, not more than it.
